Abeer Qassim Hamza was a 14 year old Iraqi girl who lived in the village of Al-Mahmoudiyah, southeast of Baghdad. On March 12th Abeer was gang raped while in the other room her father mother and her 5 year old sister HADEEL were shot by Private First Class Steven Dale Green of the United States Army who then raped her and killed her by shooting several times in her face and head in her own home,Testimonies by the accused soldiers recorded by army investigators later revealed the girl struggled and cried in arabic while she was raped ,after one of the accused JAMES BARKER FINISHED RAPING HER ,he told her to shut up. Her mother, father, and younger sister were also shot to death, leaving her two younger brothers parentless. In early July, four US soldiers, and one ex-soldier, were charged with these crimes. Previous to the charges, the ex-soldier, Steven Green, was discharged from the Army for a personality disorder.

Where was the vigil held?
I must say this story is so touching and horrifyingly sad. My prayers go out to any of Abeer's family or friends who are still alive and grieving. What can we do to send them letters or postcards. Maybe you can research how we can do that?

i am so sorry for abeer hamza and the whole family. i pray for them, i think the army should pay the two son. this is the worse story i had very heard of. too abeer and the family ilove all of you. sue
